I am an 80s kid. Grew up privileged. Skiing was pretty much my life. Politics was all about whether to allow snowboarders or not: what else could possibly matter? I might even have found it tough to name the president. Then I had a horrific accident on the slopes five years ago. In a coma for almost three months and woke up with partial paralysis to my right side. I did not take it well--and finally got the moniker of "Winona Whyner" (my first name is Winona) after months of non-stop complaining and self-pity. But the accident was a good thing, well, eventually. It took a year, or more like two, I guess, before I came to accept my fate and began to move on. If not for family and friends that never deserted me but never got out of my face about my 'complaining and self-pity,' I would not have the wonderful life I have today. I want to give life as it was unselfishly given to me. The reason I am here is to try and inject hope into our politics in this country. After my injuries and slow recovery, I finally began to notice how divided our nation was, and it was not all about snowboards or skis. Impossible to say now if I may make a difference, but I am here to try. I use these pictures of when I was younger as a symbol of my knowledge on politics.

Thank you much for the welcome. To be honest I was anxiously awaiting someone to say something to me, checking my post every few minutes. Look forward to some good discussions. Will make you a priority.

Welcome! I appreciate your post, your pics and the reasons behind them. The nation is divided, for sure. My thinking is that the last election wasn't so much about the candidates as it was a single issue...do we go along with the Europeans on the one world government idea, or not? Unconsciously, viscerally maybe, because there was such a cacophony of competing issues, I think a lot of us knew that if the hag won the election she'd have no problem giving our wounded sovereignty the coup de gras and we have no desire to be part of the evil one world government they tried to hard to push/pull/prod/bully/trick us in to signing on with.

Have fun! We'll talk later!

Welcome! Sometimes it takes a wake-up call to get us up and going. Been there myself. Sometimes, a person has to be forced to take stock of him or herself to realize the world is much bigger and more important than one might previously have thought. Glad to see you are prospering. Congratulations on your hike up the mountain, so to speak.

Thank you, BigMike, nice to met you. You do not know how much I appreciate being welcomed. While I was anxiously awaiting someone to respond, I read a number of posts (every minute or so going back to see if anyone responded to me) and it is like you said: "The nation is divided, for sure." I guess I did not want Hillary more than I did not want Trump. The country, I think, definitely needed a wildcard to wake it up. We got it. Maybe as Trump slowly comes to terms that America is not one of his businesses he will change and accept the mantle of "merely" representing the greatest nation ever. I admit, though, I have to learn more about this One World Order thing. A number of people mentioned it in the posts I got to read.

Yes, I would hope we get to talk later. I might send a private message to learn more about the One World Order.

Yes! You are so right! I was Duhx10. Can't believe today I was so blindly self-centered. And nicely put: my hike up the mountain. You are a wise man. Thank you.

I don't know if this is appropriate or not to add something to my original thread but I forgot. I do not know what made my family and friends think that I could get over myself and change, and then it finally dawned on me: that was not a factor. They just loved me. They would stick by me no matter what. It was left up to me to do something. And if I loved them the same way that meant change. Had to add that.

Not sure if I knew enough about politics, I mean really studied, that I could possibly pick one side or the other. And pardon my ignorance, but it seems really silly to align ideologically. What is the point? I believe we are meant to think for ourselves. We are responsible to access with integrity any question or problem. To be pre-disposed to a solution based on anything is to forsake the God-given gift of reason. We will never be perfect in our discernment, yet discriminatory factors that may weigh in favor one way or the other must not prevail without thorough examination. And I am not talking about being objective. None of us will ever be objective, and we shouldn't be. Life is not a science. Certain ideals must guide us, first among these for me--for me!--is what is for the greatest or common good. This is a very complex consideration. Appeasement, for the less considerate, seems the peaceful and just path. Yet this can lead to all sorts of complications and harm. There is no formula (and no party platform) that can address properly all the myriad of questions and difficulties facing maintaining a true Republic.
