Barns of old.
The original song,The Old Rugged Cross, was a favorite of my mother...
The old barns do have a lot of truth and meanings...
"Only on the inside that the beauty grows with us.~~~"
I watched a movie called "Bridges of Madison County" you would consider a chick flick..
It was a love story, the photographer , took photos of covered bridges all over the world... In that movie I developed a curiosity about them and with all the traveling I do made it a point to zero in on them to photographic as well.. Did some in color, more in black n white... There is a special story to all of them too, some filled in love.
What a beautiful thread this is dog...Thank You for sharing it...

I watched that movie many years ago. That with a big bowl of popcorn, not to mention threats from my wife about NOT watching it and all was well and good in my world. I love old barns also and we have a lot of em here in Oregun. Mostly because so many people can't afford to fix em or they have passed away and their liberal kids don't give a damn. A friend of ours a long time ago refurbished an old English style barn into a barn/house. They lived upstairs in the home part and the horses lived down stairs in the barn, the birthing stall was under the framed in open area of the family room where they could stay warm and check on any progress made, really cool home. Guess I just have to win the Lotto so we can remake our own on say 100 acres or so. Oh and your welcome Linda.

How cool is that dog!! Birthing stall framed in the family room area!! I love it...Sounds very unique as well...
Doing work for Lloyd's of London Reinsurance Treaty agreements on thoroughbred racers, most in Lexington, Ky.. I visited some "barns" that were like mansions..I kid you not...
You should have seen the " barn" Secretariat was stabled at... He developed wobblers syndrome and after studding out for 750k a pop with no guarantee he was not able to stand... Anyway, as the rep for Lloyd's I had to attend his euthanasia and it was the most beautiful thing funeral wise you can imagine... Before being put down they brought him out with a lift centered him on his red carpet, flowers galore, his owner truly sadden....After the eulogy of his success and offspring his vet came out to inject him..The lift still around him as his owner didn't want him on the ground..
All barns have their history, some spectacular others every day working stations, all amazing...For me, the older the better...
Your Welcome, dog... it is I whom very much like this thread.. I just watched it again!!
There are a lot of old, weathered barns here in Tennessee, and some homes. When I drive by, I wonder about the families that lived in the homes, cared for the animals that were sheltered in the barns. Stories, histories of happiness and loss, now only far away memories, lost as those families grew up and moved away, yet, these structures speak to you.
There's an old barn on our property that has been painted, but still needs maintenance. Bear and I encountered a pair of birds down there yesterday. They are preparing to build their nest and raise their family for the coming spring. New life in an old barn.
Thanks, Onelostdog, I appreciated the old barns.
that's just downright beautiful dog
