I get it: hope! Every complaint, frustration, wish, dream, desire, ideal, memories, loss, outrage, injustice, hurt, rejection, and so on is packaged in "Make America great again." A lot is invested in those words. That message is the promise and opportunity to undo wrongs, balance the scales, bring safety, return values, honor the forgotten, heal wounds, restore prominence, be appreciated, find happiness, grant greater liberty, and the list is endless. You put it all on Trump, wagered your soul, in effect, that he could make it all better. And I admit there is a lot wrong in this country that is unjustly hurting innocent middle-class Americans. And Congress needs to be fixed. But remember that our severe discontent and worry came as the result of failed policies and regulations by Bush. Republicans were responsible for the crash in 2008 that almost ended America. What happened back then? De-regulation of Wall Street and Banking. The Democrats put in safeguards under Obama so that fiasco would not happen again. What did Trump do? He wrote an Executive Order undermining those safeguards.

Think, question, look deeply--always, no matter what side of the aisle is talking. The same for the president. He promised to "drain the swamp" and is filling it with fiercer reptiles and expanding its borders, making it a protected sanctuary of greed and corruption. WAKE UP! All those things of your heart and soul you were desperate to see manifest through Trump are not going to take place; the opposite is true. OPEN YOUR EYES!

You recall incorrectly. Clinton loosened the loan criteria to allow poor families a chance at owning a house. The mortgage industry took advantage of this and lowered the standards even further, then lumped thousands of these bad loans together and sold them as good collateral. Which were exchanged over and over again by banks as assets and used on Wall Street as investments. They had close to zero value but were inflated to be worth hundreds of billions. The same paper chase of 1929.

I did not mean to imply that Bush was personally responsible for the 2008 financial crisis and the source you gave was great in clarifying that point, thank you. Bush was, as you said, "screaming the alarm" and instead when things went really bad, he mistakenly was blamed.
