Isaiah chapter 8

Verses 1 - 4

The name means swift to the spoil. Assyria will soon take everything Israel has and make them leave their homeland. You can read the 17th chapter of 2 Kings and see why God was sick of them.

Verses 5 - 8

Israel and Judah were brother nations. But Israel and Syria had formed an alliance to conquer Judah. This angered God so much that soon Israel will be gone. God used Assyria to chastise Israel. In time they will forget who they were.

Verses 9 & 10

It is stupid to think any man is equal with God. If you try, God will fool you into thinking you have a chance. It will blow up in your face.

Verses 11 - 15

If God is God, we should do what He says. Those who disobey God come to nothing. The number of people that agree on an idea, has nothing to do with the validity of an idea. Reality exists outside of human cognition. Those who obey God find strength.

Verses 16 - 18

Wait on the Lord. God appeals to intellect. Think before you speak or act. Once you say or do something, it can’t be undone or unsaid. Making emotional decisions is always a mistake.

Verses 19 & 20

Talking to the dead makes no sense. Some demons pretend to be spirits of those passed away to lie and deceive those alive. If you want spiritual advice, read the bible. If they can’t teach from the bible, listening to them will only make them rich. It won’t help you at all.

Verses 21 & 22

The fault lies more with the gullible fools who believe the lies more than the liars themselves. The results never live up to expectations. When faced with disappointing results, they curse God and man. Millions of Chinese starved to death believing in Mao Tse Tung. Millions of Russians starved to death believing in Lenin. Stalin killed more Russians than Hitler.
