Today in 1919, Prohibition took effect. (the 18th Amendment). It did almost as much good as the "War on Drugs," and reasonable gun control." Lest we forget, today in 1991, the Gulf War officially began. (I thought I would throw that in to see if anyone else caught the irony of the juxtaposition of the last "1" and "9" in the dates.)
