What a sheer joy to read!! This woman can write, and she knows what she talks about. I wish I could give her a hug. Not a lot can be added to her comments except, GO, GIRL!!

Scholars are always the first ones shot in a dictatorship. But they are the ones who often move people to victory.
They dare to speak the truth knowing the history of their commitment to truth. I admire these words of truth and wisdom she presented.

....We do not live in a dictatorship. You are admiring banana republic politics and their dictators. You transport that image to the USA where dominant minorities alter this reality for their own partisan desires and own brand of politics similar to the Roman Senators receiving "clients in their homes which translated to these "modern times" means US Senators receiving "lobbyists" in their homes and offices. Emperors were assassinated and deposed and Presidents were assassinated and voted out of office. Nothing changes much save for the fact that the tenured orators of today hide behind Ivy on their campuses.

With all due respect, Peter, I believe we are living in a soon-to-be dictatorship if we don't do something to prevent it. There are many things that point to just such a thing, which I wonder if you are aware of. Just because we still have some freedoms doesn't mean they aren't on the chopping block, which I believe they are. I believe Americans have to a large extent been lulled into the mistaken belief that America can NEVER fall. It CAN, Peter, and it WILL if we are not more diligent.

I concur with you wholeheartedly, however, mankind has a habit of repeating and evolving at the same time. Athens had similar themes 2000+ years ago and so did we with additions to the recipe. Its all a matter of we are here and now and they were there then and mercifully we die and others take our place.

That is quite negatitive in it's sound. I take it you believe whaterver happens will happen and there is no room for hope or positive change. Please forgive and correct me if I'm wrong. I believe positive change can be made within the system handed down by the wisdom of our founders. I believe the secret to hope is to be united in our thinking as a whole rather than take a defensive or prideful stand on our on individual beliefs which can only continue to lead to divisions. Compromise is not surrender, it makes for progress. I don't mean to be offensive.

One's who shroud themselves in "morality" or "moral values" need to look in the mirror and ensure that they themselves are living up to those same values 100% before they tell others to do so. Greed is as much a sin as bad as killing or adultery. War is killing and there are as many babies lives cut short by our use of WMD such as depleted uranium and other weapons as there are via abortion, so those who support war no matter what the reason for are guilty of killing and abortion all for the wars that Jesus would NOT have at all. That means you threw away all of those assumed values when you went to war for revenge or any other reason. That is what a Quaker friend of mine told me. I have great respect for him because he does walk the walk without all the talk.
When you will outlaw war, hate, pride and greed you can outlaw abortion. All those people who claim to be "christian" have to walk that walk and show the rest of the people an example to follow, not mandate those beliefs on everyone else, while they continue to be prideful, hateful and greedy. No corporate entity can claim any sort of moral high ground such as being against birth control etc until they have eliminated greed within their corporation and have become good stewards of the planet and not make or sell any other products that could cause harm to people or to the environment. I will go as far as saying that 97% of those members of our government that proclaim some kind of moral high ground are really knee deep in the crap in a ditch full of dirty, oily dollars. But hey, they got their make-up on right and they will look good doing it wrong. Hypocrisy is the name of the game in our government today.
One's who shroud themselves in "morality"... (show quote)

I'm not a Christian, but anyone who says we should never go to war for any reason has to be devoid or real world consciouness.

I agree, Armageddun. Nothing is finalized until it is finalized, to put it simply. As Edmund Burke said, all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Socialism is simply communism for people without the testosterone to man the barricades. This new Mayor de Blasio of NYC , not only wants to distribute the wealth but also the guilt that must be redistributed amongst the hammock swingers and low information types both legal and illegal in the City and the nation at large

Some how we must stop this run away train. We can't just keep banging our heads against each other. There has to be a way to wake up to the fact that we are all Americans. It's coming to the point that we will either come together and put and end to the insanity or we will fall together. Because what is happening to our country isn't for the good of the common man.
