It will be interesting to watch the eaglets mature and how the parents respond. Just think, 20 years ago these birds were on the decline and now they have made a remarkable recovery. Have you ever been up close and personal with one of these birds? The closest I have been is a visit to one of my trees in the back yard, and I could not stop watching it!

Just have seen them from a distance in many places.
Watched them fish from the cliffs of Catalina Island.

The live cam just showed both Mom and Pop at the nest.
I just noticed that BOTH have the white heads.
In the bird world, it is the male with the fancy and colorful plumage.
I know of no other species with that distinction.
The Eagle is symbolic in the Bible.
A sign maybe?

I don't think the second one will hatch and if it does the first one is so big that the second will starve..... she will clean the nest soon and M15 and Harriett will raise there child for the next 18 months or so. It will be interesting to watch it mature.

You are right, if the other one hatched so late, the older one would take out the newbe.

Nature can be harsh. The good news... if one can think of it as such, the surviving eagle will be stronger and healthier. I remember when Harriett's first mate died.... very sad to watch her and then M15 began to bring her gifts.... Eagles mate for life, something that I did not know until recently.
