A life long Dem. and Union Carpenter. Officially retired on 11/29/2016 (33 year member) I began volunteering at the grass roots level in 1972. I was then and still now totally appalled by the level of political ignorance that reeks from the millions of so called middle income working class citizens that live with the mindset of " All their troubles in life and the hand that they were dealt " has been created by and is the fault of someone other than themselves.
The answer is simple and the facts are undeniable. When the citizens of this great country refuse to be active in the democratic process, They do get the government that they deserve.

Welcome to OPP. You won't find me disagreeing on that one. People act like these hairball politicians elect (and re-elect) themselves. I am proud of the fact that although I am a registered Republican, on the down ballot, I only voted for 2 incumbents, my State Senator and the County Sheriff. They were also the only incumbents I voted for in the primaries.

So true. Unfortunately, we get the same government they do.

True enough but we also have to know what's really the problem and how to fix it.

In order to fix a problem we have to identify it for what it is, not what we perceive it to be. This requires critical thinking and the ability to be honest with ourselves. I learned early in life that there was no free tickets in my future. No vast wealth to inherent or multi million dollar business handed to me on a silver plate. My father instilled upon me the fact that I was destined to be a worker bee, and to act accordingly and to vote accordingly in order to insure that my sons futures would better off . Just as my dad did for me. I am baffled when I meet someone that is dirt poor, uneducated and unmotivated to make changes that will improve their lives, and they assure me with great conviction, they will be rich someday. They then inform me that they vote for politicians that will ensure that the rich will get richer in order to help them preserve the vast wealth that will be laid at their feet. They are sure it will be here any day.

Welcome to the board mcmuria !

Hope you have thick skin as there will be several that will test you !

You will have some that will agree with you and some that won't and I'm sure you will be the same way !

I find it best not to take oneself too seriously I've found that to be true as I've aged !

But people, like you and I, don't deserve! I am very active in my LD and I am a PCO too! It terrifies me how many ignorant people live in our Country!
