That sounded kind of snobbish Paul,
The only cereals I ever eat are Cheerios, and Quaker oats, and I don't drink cokes, so I've been in boycott mode for years! I must be clairvoyant or something!😆

LOL Archie...you are right to call me out on my strong language!

Indeed some of the products are not bad for you...Cheerieos (A General Mills product) and Quaker Oats (unfortunately owned be PepsiCo) being among them.
It is the over-sugared, dubiously nutritious other products that conglomerates have convinced Americans to eat that bother me.

Growing up I was never allowed to eat any cereal but "Life" (and that in fact had a little bit of sugar in it) and I never developed a taste for soft drinks. How anyone can drink the artificially-sweetened diet drinks is beyond me..they taste like a mouthful of chemicals to me.

There is no telling who has their fingers in what pies with these huge conglomerate corporations.

I was able to tour a Holly Sugar plant back in the 90's to see how they extracted the sugar from sugar beets. It was interesting, but what stuck with me the most was walking through their warehouse where they had bagged sugar labeled in every brand imaginable. It dawned on me then that you may pay a different price for a different brand, but it's all the same crap that came from the same place.
I know that isn't true across the whole spectrum, but in a lot of cases it has to be.
And I really don't think that me not spending my $2.99 (or whatever it is) a month on a cardboard can of oats will be sending a scathing message to Kellogs, Pepico, Nabisco, Car Quest, or whoever else is involved.

We buy as many locally made products as we can, but in a lot of things you have no choice.

Glad to hear you buy local whenever you can. I'm always willing to pay a little more to buy from a local store rather tha a corporate grocery. And then we are a little spoiled here in SF with our farmers markets. 🌽🍅🍓🍐🍋🍆

Exactly what they are. Created in a chemistry lab, not a kitchen. They are most definitely not good for you:
