Can a Democrat be friends with a Republican?

Only if they learn to think like a liberal.

I find this interesting as I have liberal friends, but each one of them is moving farther and farther away from Obama...they're starting to see right through him. Maybe there is some hope for liberals after all.

From the article;
"The failure isn't one of understanding, but a closed mind and limited experience."

I live in rural Pennsylvania, in one of the poorest counties in the state. Republicans run the county. It started a downhill slide in the 70's and has bottomed out. It is a haven for welfare families. You can't as cheaply and still have all the amenities of small town life anywhere - except another rural "hollowed out" area, and there are plenty of them. I'm an independent - only because labels are too restrictive and I'm free to change my mind at will. I earned that and extend that freedom to everyone else. I have no bumper stickers (except for a "Wounded Warrior Project" sticker on my wife's car and a VFW plate on the front of my truck.

I have friends who like their labels. We don't just agree to disagree - We agree not to disagree - it prevents us from ruining a good beer with each other. We also allow the occasional outburst of personal views and learn from each other. Politics shouldn't come between friends and a good beer - but I do refuse to serve up "light" beer.

Snowline: I'm a silver fox - too wise to be one of those endangered species.
"Liberalism kills," argues J.R. Dunn -- and he means that literally. "Liberalism destroys lives, and destroys them in large numbers."

Dunn's deliberative account takes no cheap shots, but relies on hard data and reasoned arguments to demonstrate that liberal policies in such areas as criminal justice reform, federal fuel standards, child "protection" agencies, urban renewal and environmental regulations have killed up to 500,000 Americans over the past fifty years.

And there may well be worse coming, argues Dunn: ObamaCare alone, through its destruction of the existing health care system, its leveling of all forms of treatment, and its slavish imitation of the dysfunctional British NHS, threatens up to 450,000 lives per year.

The liberal mind is the psychological cause of political madness. "During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.
"-George Orwell
Cheers!

I live in what could be considered a super conservative town. A number of my views tend to be seen as liberal, though I see them based on the gospel. All my firends are conservative and we appear to genuinely like each other and respect our varying opinions. We consider what the other has to say without insults and name calling. We think. To take it that all are engaged in a partisan war and it is necessary to take any opposing stance as an attack is only in the minds of those of have lost touch with the Big Picture. Cooperation and compromise is not seen as giving aid and comfort to the enemy

Your refusal to serve up lite beer makes you questionable. I prefer coors lite. If that is a roadblock to our friendship, I'll bring my own. The world is loaded with "beer bigots", but I'm willing to work around them to enjoy good company! :D
