Bill Clinton was widely described in the black community as the first black president. One wonders if this was due to his abuse of women, but in any case the was an ersatz black.

Barrack Obama is almost universally considered the first African-American president, but in reality he is at best half-black. Not only that, be none of his ancestors suffered in slavery or the Jim Crow era discrimination that was common to most African-Americans. He himself was raised in an upper middle class privileged life - never suffering the indignity or public schools, having been provided access to private schooling. Only as an adult did he even see a black ghetto, and his involvement with them was not unlike social workers - able to go home to a nice middle class safe environment at the end of the day.

The first real black president may well be Dr. Carson. He is the offspring of slaves, he is the product of live and schooling in the black ghetto, and he has the up close and personal experience common to most African-Americans.

I, for one, would be very pleased if he becomes the first authentic African-American President.

Absolutely spot on in your assessment. I agree that Dr. Carson would be an excellent president and be such a positive example for those raised in less than ideal circumstances to overcome those obstacles, take advantage of the opportunities available to all Americans, and become a success in life. What an inspiration! And super intelligent, too, as well as being a godly man. Carson 2016!

I don't think he stands the proverbial Snowballs chance, but he would certainly bring a true Black perspective to the White House.

I could vote for Dr. Carson enthusiastically. Something I haven't done in quite a while.

BTW, you don't see the word 'erzats' often. Nice usage...

Right on ! ( no pun intended ) The good doctor would prove that there are good persons of color. He sets the perfect example being born and raised in a poverty stricken ghetto. I would guess that he had help from his parents or what ever, but he managed to pull himself up by his ''bootstraps' and become the great person he is, unlike the dismal disappointment we have had for a POTUS for the past 6 1/2 years. What may hurt him is in fact the current POTUS of whom voters may shy away from another person of color.

I don't think Carson would recognize "Racial" difference!

I think Carson, is the { "real deal" }.......& would employ excellent cabinet members, to assist him in his weakest areas......

Could he be a "Black Reagan? ? ? ? ? ?......................

Ben Carson will never be the republican nominee much less president, the racist peckerwoods that make up the base of the party will never vote for an educated man of color and his well documented research on tissue from aborted featuses has cooked him with the religious right. There is one black person who could become our next president and our first woman president at the same time, her name is Michelle Obama!

The real racists are in the other party - those are the folks who vote based on skin color - and you can't be serious suggesting someone like Michelle, or even Barrack, has a more mainstream and authentic religious background.

I will credit you with this, the name Obama has mesmerized you and in that you are consistent.
