Repeal the 17th Ammendment?

Should the 17th amendment be repealed? This topic gets no real media attention, but it is clearly an issue that affects the future of the country as well as provides some context for how we ended up in the mess we are currently in.

For those that don’t know what the 17th amendment is (e.g., democrats and other low information types), it was adopted in 1913 to take the election of US Senators away from the State legislatures (and changing election of senators to popular vote). So what difference (at this point) does it make? Well, a quick review of American history will show a definite trend of:

• Growth of the federal government
• Extreme growth of the federal debt - what is it now…$18 trillion (that is 18 million million, or 18 million stacks of a million (increasingly worthless) dollars.)
• Steady infringement of the federal government into areas reserved for the States in the Constitution
• Steady decline in individual rights
• Unchecked implementation of “trade” agreements and arms treaties that put the country at a disadvantage

So, weigh in – should the 17th amendment be repealed? Should we continue the pointless act of having two chambers in congress elected by the same self-interested people (who are heavily influenced by the infamous “special interests” and government-media complex)?

If people can’t, as a group, make intelligent choices for the House (seriously, look at any of the career politicos in congress and ask yourself “are these REALLY the best people in the country to represent us?”), letting us elect the Senate as well is just doubling down on a losing bet. We have historically shown that we are not up to the task and we need the checks and balances to save us from ourselves.

Should the 17th amendment be repealed? This topic... (show quote)

No repeal of the 17th amendment as long as this country allows unlimited funds introduced into our political system without any knowledge of where it's coming from. Campaign finance is desperately needed.

We can just take more ISIS camps in if they pay enough,
And maybe let Oblabla run for a 3rd term;

Federal Reserve is a major problem that will never be corrected. The big banks finance on the both left and right. The TP points out how much is given to the left but forget to look at the right. So we do not have elections in this country anymore we have Auctions the highest contributor wins and this country and we have nobody in Congress with the balls to fix it.

I would hope during the 2016 election cycle that the federal reserve will be exposed. I can't believe that the federal government pays the federal reserve $36 billion a year in interest on a $800 billion loan all federal money. When the federal government robbed $2.6 trillion from SS and pay nothing just carry it as a deficit. Just to mention the top debt holder for the US government is SS and at number 4 is the federal retirement program and fed pay nothing to these programs. And the GOPTP uses the SS and retirement programs as being the major cost of our deficit it's crazy stuff. The red states use the same agenda they attack state employee retirement programs to support there corporate tax breaks and then blame the state retirement for there financial short falls

The last man to address the FR was assassinated; YAP J.F.K before Bushy Boy left office he sealed those records/ files AGAIN for 50 years.
You still think they want us to know what is going on.
If you think we have anyone out there who is willing to touch this topic and get killed
You are a Idealist. It sure would be nice but not real

Hands off the federal reserve they are making trillions off the middle class. If the government ever took control of the federal Reseve we would balance the budget and the deficit would be gone in 5 years. This country would control the world economy. JFK was the last person to try but not sure if they had anything to do with his assassination. I still think it was the mafia

Your first sentence is the USA problem "Hands Off" ?
You are right it would solve a huge problem.
Ad what we have is not citizens with real votes and free speech
They have “total control” is that the land of the free?
or the land of the sheep?
But they will put their had on a bible and swear by their "Party"

That is how Bushy Boy got us into 2 wars. We bought the BS ME TOO :hunf:
