It is an optimistic Midwestern belief that if Winter visits early,it will leave early. This is probably true, but meantime,we must buckle up and adjust our minds to the reality of Winter and all it's torments. The frost is here, the cool breeze and,of course, snow. The first week of November and we're in a deep freeze.
Something that is absolutely true is that the older you get,the colder you get.Golden Agers absorb more cold than the youngsters do.We dote on sweaters and hot coffee.
Despite the ice, slush, sharp winds and blizzards,we feel safe in thinking that we will enjoy the majority of Winter.Residing within a comfortable and warm home is a blessing.Having a nearby grocery is another.But-all in all-I will continue to curse Winter as I navigate over ice and through cruel winds with my trusty cane.

Being over 70 (80) and a hardened Marine, I find it unnecessary to use a blanket. I do, however, find it comforting to have a warm-blooded female to provide warmth. 8-)
BTW, I am always interested in willing applicants for providing said warmth.

I grew up on a farm in central Michigan and we did our own butchering, since we didn't have electricity we depended on nature to freeze our meat we always hoped to do it over the thanksgiving break so us boys would be home to help but occasionally we had to wait for Christmas break
