Strzok was removed from the Mueller investigation team and placed in the FBI's Human Resources dept--which basically is a "nowhere else to go" office. The personnel in this dept. are not involved in FBI law enforcement or intel analyses. He hasn't been fired yet, but he is in limbo.

Yes, they got him away from law enforcement and analysis. Most likely the FBI director is waiting to see where this investigation goes and if criminal charges against Strozk and others are filed.
