They pretty much took them already with the patriot act the American people had the opportunity to stand up then but sat on their hands.

Not much said about how much that actually happens. I wrote a book on the military defense system's abuse of money, I was told to destroy the manuscript and the computer it had been written on, I did exactly that. Kept a very low profile for almost ten years. I had friends in high intelligence places who told me do not screw around with this. I say some here and there but nothing like I did in the book. I was told that because of the Top Secret clearance and access to an array of classified weapons systems that it gave plausible reasons to be disappeared for leaking classified information.
I was very much in tune with the patriot act and how those who think they are patriots were asleep at the wheel on that one. The right is manned with alt patriots.
