America loses another Hero

Former Senator Jeremiah Denton died today. He was the senior POW officer among U.S. prisoners released from North VietNam 1973, and was their spokesman to the press upon their arrival in the Philipines to their waiting families and dignitaries.

As a Viet Nam Veteran, I ask that my brothers and sisters from that War, and all others, remember him with a silent moment and salute for his service. Anyone unfamiliar with Mr. Denton need only look him up on the internet. He was most famous for blinking T-O-R-T-U-R-E to news cameras while being interviewed in captivity by the North Vietnamese. He served proudly and admirably.

R.I.P., My Brother. You will not be forgotten.

I had never heard of him until the news tonight showed the video of him blinking. I cannot comprehend the courage it took for him to do this. God bless all veterans. I thank them for their service.

He was an inspiration to many, long after the war ended. He was also one of the very few politicians I had any respect for. He never stopped serving.
