The issue is not so much sex as it is the type of serious commitments to others (spouse and family) that an adulterer breaks. If the adulterer (adulteress) cannot stay within the confines of a sacred marriage vow, why would they not be suspect to break business or political or security commitments to people who should mean less to them than family?
