Louie De Palma was a very very funny character. Archie Bunker was an unapologetic unreconstructed bigot but somehow lacked venom (we probably all have a dear relative like him somewhere.) George Costanza was an improbable dork but Seinfeld needed a foil.

Interestingly enough the statuesque Emma Peel played by Diana Rigg has resurfaced as a crusty dowager in the “Victoria” series. Time passes but good to see women getting roles into their advanced years but I fear this is more prevalent
in British television and movies than American...
Judy Dench, Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith et al. (They still look sexy too 😊)
