“Let’s stop lying about this,” he said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“The calls we are hearing today for gun control have nothing to do with protecting Americans from violence. What you’re witnessing is a kind of class war,” Carlson continued.

“The left hates rural America, red America, gun-owning America, the America that elected Donald Trump. They hate them. Progressives are still in charge of most of the major institutions in this country, and they despise the autonomy of an armed population.

“They want collective punishment for the sins of a few. They seek to obliterate a core constitutional right rather than trying to mitigate its downsides.”

And then he slammed his argument home.

“They call it gun control, but it’s not. It’s people control. For the left, voters who can’t be controlled, can’t be trusted.”

Would requiring a person to be at least 21years old to purchase a long gun be a bad idea? I've read that a person has to be 21 years old to buy a hand gun.

Would outlawing gun sales all together be a bad idea? I've read where guns don't kill, people do.

"I have a gub.."-- --- I remember that Woody Allen movie!! Funny.

Let's use the "reasoning" the left foisted upon us as for the qualifier to vote- age wise- 18 y/o. How's that? "If a yoot can tote a gun in the services, he/she (and now 'it') is qualified to VOTE".

What more adult activity than deciding the leadership of the country is there?

Voting is an adult activity. If done well the voter has apprised himself of all available information on the candidates and examined their stated intention of how they will serve when in office. If he has a CRAAP filter, he will make up his mind as to how much of the candidate's statements are impossible or untrue.

That said, there are very few voters who are this qualified and virtually none of them are eighteen. The eighteen year old does not have the life experience necessary to properly evaluate the political positions. Shooting a gun and killing enemy combatants does not require the use of critical faculties.

Giving the vote to eighteen year-olds was one of the stupider ideas to come out of the seventies and the 26th amendment simply pandered to the anti-Vietnam war protests occurring on college campuses. Instead of ending the war they gave the protestors the vote, as if that would effect any change in the military policies. Now we have eighteen year old senior high school students being led by the nose by their leftist, socialist teachers who are voting in droves. Especially when the polling places are in high school gymnasiums and they get a class pass to go vote.

You don't say who he is, but whoever he is, he doesn't know what's in my heart, and isn't qualified to comment on how I feel about people on the other side of the political fence. Obviously, there are haters on both sides.

As a liberal, I know nothing I say or do can help quell the hate of bitter, vindictive, extremist conservatives. Only their fellow conservatives can do that. I can and do reach out to liberals whose hurt and fear have coalesced into blind anger.

Neither side can afford to be led by enraged zealots. We must all do what we can to help them find peace in their hearts and tolerance for other people's beliefs. When we cannot, we must condemn their narrow-mindedness and divorce ourselves from their dangerous rhetoric. Then we can get on with the business of negotiation and compromise, so we can secure the future of the country we all love.

I agree.

Anyone who equates heavily regulated behavior as one sees in military situations to, say, college frat, activities is incredibly stupid.

18y/o males particularly absolutely NEED solid guidance and most generally are incapable of rational thought in any consistent manner.

There was a widely acclaimed study recently which stated that male human brains actually experience something one could call 'brain cell migration'. The neurons actually float about and re-establish connections. Now, that makes some adolescent behavior perfectly understandable.

So, handing all male adolescents the vote was a moronic gesture only idiotic liberals, suffering from their own mental malady, would think a good idea.

IT'S TUCKER!

Cripes, I thought that was clear enough.

No, no one but YOU knows "what's in your heart". How could they? You reserve your criticism of "zealots" only when some conservative voice is heard proposing another view from those hysterical fools of the liberal radical left?

What's in my heart will be no "love" for any individual or group which wants to destroy liberty, freedom, and thus this country. No matter how many words they use.

Happishark, you say you are a liberal. Most of my adult thinking years I claimed that same label, but not today. It seems that "liberal" has a much different meaning than it did many years ago. Do you agree? Is liberal not a correct term for today's citizens that fight for open borders/let the world in, push for citizen rights/benefits for Non citizens, use hateful name calling for all disagrees, lie constantly to misguide and intimitidate citizens, total ignore facts that refute their lies, etc?? As a liberal, is this the way you operate today? Do you think most liberals even fit into this group of antiAmerica Americans?? I am interested because I cannot support those views, but I am distrustful of republicans also.

S. Maturing I, myself, believe it would be good for all 18 year old to serve at least a couple of years in the military. They would get a reasonably safe place to grow up some, learn about how the world actually works in real life and learn some self discipline and some patriotism. I think all of those are good things.

I so totally agree. Military service removes the need for 'safe places' and shows young people that there is structure in the world. They learn self reliance and responsibility. All of which seems to be so sadly lacking in today's youth. You are mixed with others, not of your choosing. It was an experience that lifted the young into manhood. We desperately need it today.
