"The politicians and pundits would have you believe this is not about God - it's about politics and mental illness and gun control.
And the Devil smiled."

I'm a septuagenarian, had I not dropped out of high school, along with other problems, I would have graduated in 1956. Actually, I was expelled, for being a constant troublemaker. Fist fights, skippin' school, you name it. My father taught me the fundamentals of fighting at an early age.

Never weighing over 150 pounds, while in school, I would tackle anyone of any size if they presented a challenge. It was drummed into my head that having one's ass whipped was far better than being known as a coward. However, I wasn't unique in that sense, for that was the general mindset of boys and young men of that time period.

Plus, the concept that it's someone else's job to protect one from being bullied was as foreign as boys using girls bathrooms, and vice-versa would have been!

Some of my teachers liked me and some didn't, the ones that didn't, I could give as good as I got. Which, of course, led to being eventually kicked out of school.

In view of the volatile exchanges, I often found myself in, with both fellow students and teachers, never once did I consider getting a gun and killing anyone.

However, determining who and what is to blame for the present climate of school killings, is beyond my comprehension and pay grade. Today, a caller to the Rush Limbaugh radio show, made the point that, in view of calls for more gun control, the weapon to be used in the next school shooting is already in the hands of the future shooter. A prescient prediction? Rush thought so!

The cause of terrible things like school shootings is no mystery, it is the breakdown of civil society, the cultural corruption, immorality, failure of education, the destruction of the nuclear family. A sure barometer of this is the promotion of violence in movies, TV, video games, and comic books. Some of this stuff is so graphic with its blood, guts and gore that even for a hard ass like me who has seen enough of it in real life, it is offensive.

Rush talked about the violence in video games, how young kids can murder human animations at the push of a button, blow them to pieces, splatter blood and guts all over the place, and the dead come back to life ready for the next round. Young kids exposed to this and participating in this mayhem are not mature enough to absorb this kind of thing without the lines between fantasy and reality getting blurred.

Rush also mentioned the concept of air marshals could be implemented in schools. Not every commercial flight has an air marshal on board, but knowing there is that possibility has been a deterrent. Same concept applies to gun ownership. Criminals avoid areas where citizens are armed, whether in the home or personal carry. Why not school marshals? Woiuldn't have to have a marshal in every school, but just the idea that an armed marshal may be patrolling a particular school would deter a bad guy. Why not allow communities and school districts to implement plans such as this, allow them to tailor their protection and defensive measures to their own unique circumstances, rather than the federal government blanketing the entire nation with ineffective laws and regulations that cannot possibly cover all the bases?

Simple. Take down the 'Gun Free Zone' signs and put up 'Security by Smith and Wesson' signs. Let people defend themselves. What's so hard about that? Problem solved. Instead, we're supposed to hand over our firearms so the criminals can have free reign? Not in my lifetime.

I've never indulged myself in any degree with these videos you mention. However, I know you're correct in your description of what they contain. Still, wouldn't it take a particular mindset, to consistently engage in that type of activity? And, even if younger, I don't see myself engaging in this type of entertainment.

Know day's, it isn't unusual to see children barely out of diapers, with their video gadgets in hand. If a child of that age immerses their young mind in those types of videos, and if they are predisposed to a violent disposition, then it stands to reason that the outcome will be less than positive.
