Isaiah chapter 38

Verse 1

God is in control. He could have just called Hezekiah home. He gave Hezekiah a chance to make a request. This sickness occurs during the siege of Assyria.

Verse 2 & 3

Hezekiah doesn’t want to die and asks God for more time. He must think his works give him favor with God.

Verse 4 - 8

God promises Hezekiah fifteen more years and to protect Jerusalem from Sennacherib. The sun is 93,000,000 miles from earth, which orbit’s the sun traveling 25 times faster than a bullet fired from a high-powered rifle. The earth is 25,000 miles in circumference. For the sun to go backward, the earth’s orbit would have to be reversed.

Verse 9 - 20

This is Hezekiah’s prayer and musings.

Verse 21 & 22

He needs to be reminded of verse eight. Wait, he’s dead. Never mind.
