Luke chapter 4

Verse 1

After Jesus was baptized He was led by the spirit into the wilderness to be tried by satan. All Jesus will use to nullify satan’s arguments is the word of God. All we need to defeat the end time locust army is understanding the word of God.

Verse 2 & 3

Satan is criminally insane. Everyone just heard God call Jesus His son. Why the if? Those deceived by satan believe pleasing the flesh is more important than maturity and development. It is not a good idea to put food in your mouth every time you are hungry.

Verse 4

This is found in Deuteronomy 8:3. Making good decisions is more important to your life as food is to your body. We should do what God likes and avoid what He hates. To be successful we must not only avoid negatives, we must actively pursue positives. No one is going to give you a house.

Verse 5 - 8

Cities keep you from understanding reality. Large cities contain more drug addicts, criminals, and prostitutes than rural areas and small towns. Jesus would be disgusted by this offer. More disgusting is satan wanting to be worshipped in exchange.

Verse 9 - 13

Satan tried to twist scripture with the son of God. Those deceived by satan think that God looks at eating shrimp is as big a sin as murdering a child. The scripture he twisted is Psalm 91:11 & 12. He left out “in all your ways” from the 11th verse. Making it sound like it doesn’t matter where you go or what you do, angels will protect you. This is not true. A man of God can’t go anywhere and do anything. God came to this reality and wrote with His finger in stone not to commit adultery. A man of God won’t sleep with the wives of the men that bring their families to his church to hear him preach. The 12th verse is found in Deuteronomy 6:16. In this set of trials, satan leaves for a season which means he came back later.

Verse 14 - 21

Jesus taught in the synagogue where He grew up. The priests were selected by Rome and not chosen by God. The scriptures Jesus read are in Isaiah 61:1 & 2. Jesus stops reading in the middle of the second scripture. When He comes back will be the time of vengeance. Right now Christians should follow Christ in tribulations and persecutions, living the life of a second class citizen. When it’s time, God will lift us up.

Verse 22 & 23

If obeyed, the words Jesus spoke will improve the quality of your life. Today, we think we are saved while ignoring every word Jesus spoke. Jesus says in Luke 6:46, “why call ye me, Lord, Lord and do not the things I say?” People want to hear sweet words and be promised good times. They want success without effort and want to be respected without being respectable. This is not how it works. No one is going to give you a house. Especially after you have made them miserable for the last 10 years.

Verse 24

This is the only idea that is in all four gospels. It is found in Matthew 13:57, Mark 6:4, Luke 4:24, and John 4:44.

Verse 25 - 32

People expect God to heal their diseases and bless them with good situations. Jesus prepares His disciples for troubles, trials, and tribulations. They wanted to kill Jesus. When rejected in Nazareth, He goes to Capernaum.

Verse 33 - 37

Psalm 1:3 ends saying, “whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”. Being rejected in Nazareth, Jesus amazes in Capernaum.

Verse 38 & 39

It is said that the Catholic Church was started by Peter. Peter was married. Catholic priests are forbidden to marry. Read 1 Timothy 4:1 - 3.

Verse 40 - 44

Those that listened to Jesus had their lives improve. It is God’s intention to save everyone. People choose their own destruction.
