Okay, the day is almost on us.... cooks are checking to make sure they have everything needed for a blissful Thanksgiving meal and bread for making leftover sandwiches. I would like to say.... may every tummy be filled, naps on the sofa in peace, and may all those who are protesting this blessed day, be warm and dry! For those who do not know, each year a group of people gather on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, to protest Thanksgiving, they call it Unthanksgiving Day. Perhaps they have nothing to be thankful for, but for me.... I love to have family around, I love cooking.... and the stories exchanged. We watch the parade, snack, nap, and then feast! So, unless you are celebrating at Alcatraz Island....Have a very blessed Thanksgiving celebration!
And...if you want, give us your favorite recipe.
Pumpkin Spice Latte:
2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1 to 3 tablespoons sugar, depending on how sweet you like it
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more for serving
1/2 cup strong hot coffee
Whipped cream, for serving
DIRECTIONS
Add milk, pumpkin puree, and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Heat until hot, but do not boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and the coffee.
Divide the mixture between two mugs. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.

Sounds YUMMY, thanks!! Our meal is very traditional, I use all of my grandma's recipes so nothing exciting to add, but I will definitely have my latte daughters try out your recipe!!

A time to simply be Thankful for the many blessing given starting with family and friends and then all those things you personally find to be Thankful for..

It is ymmy.... and although I am a vegan, I can not pass this stuff up!
You are welcome to share your traditional recipes from your Gram, I am of the opinion that we are loosing much of their wisdom in more than just how they cooked.

Thank you Linda. You were part of a conversation (thread creator, Peewee)... You are much admired by more than just me and the "crowd" ! Anyway, do have a wonderful day!
My house will be full, lots of people all talking at once, 4 tables to hold (in shifts) the hungry mass, but no NFL! The TV will have the parade.... and quiet place for my cranky old aunt (she really is not cranky, just getting up there in years and has hearing issues) to "rest" before and after she eats. Even the rescued animals will have a taste of Thanksgiving. And then many of us will go serve and clean up at the shelter. A full day, but I will be laughing and smiling all day long!

I do what I can.... I cook, clean, and wash tons of clothing and manage the budget. I also run an animal rescue. I stay pretty busy as you can imagine. Prayers and blessings are always welcomed with heartfelt appreciation!

Sounds fantastic !!! And as it should be too!!! I’ll be going for a couple of hours to a shelter center for the homeless just to give them a home cooked meal too..
They are doing breakfast and then at 1pm Turkey and all the trimmings.. it always humbles me...
Talk about giving thanks, that will center you for sure..
