If you are heading outdoors...
"Important Announcement:
In light of the rising frequency of human - grizzly bear conflicts, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take extra precautions and keep alert of bears while in the field.
They advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting them.
They also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear.
It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear dung.
Black bear dung is smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear dung has little bells in it and smells like pepper."

Inquiring minds want to know; Who would wear little bells besides fairies? Since you live in Mexifornia, how often do you go to Alaska? Do you make it a habit to go around smelling grizzly bear dung? I've been to Alaska several times and unless fishing in a river during the salmon run I've never come across a grizzly bear. As long as you keep you distance they are not a problem. But I will keep this info filed away in case I ever come upon bear dung.

I see you are unable to discern the difference between fact and fiction. For your edification, it was a joke. Sorry you were unable to comprehend that little piece of humor.

Oh, I understood it as a joke alright. Weren't the questions I asked facetious enough for you? Jeez, some people take themselves so serious.
It is an old joke and when delivered to people about to enter the woods who have never heard it, it goes over well.

It wasn't written facetiously, it was a serious, put down type of communiqué. At least that was my perception.

While not an expert on fairies with little balls (oops bells) I can tell you the the study of Scat is an important part of woods lore as well as a scientific branch of study known as Scatology. I am proficient in this field of study having collected samples of Scatology in the corporate workplace for years. I have also published a two volume comopendium of scatology. Some noted divas have sung Scat and are also proficient Scatologists.

I always liked Scatman Corruthers! And yes, Biologists in the field Do always look at poop and to determine many things based on what they find.
It wasn't? Okay. You just keep on checking poop. Like I said; some people take themselves way too serious.

It wasn't? Okay. You just keep on checking bear poop. Like I said; some people take themselves way too serious. You go ahead and take it any way you want. If you really want a put-down, you've got it. I used to spend summers south of Mono Lake where Basque sheepherders would come through with their flock of grazing sheep, traveling up the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada's, through the Owens Valley, after starting down in Mexico. They have water troughs spaced a days walk apart. If you are not familiar with sheep droppings then I have some "smart pills" I can sell to you. Now tell me if you think I am being facetious or not. Perception is a funny thing because many people can witness the same event and perceive it as something totally different from what others see. If you are not familiar with "Smart Pills" I will be happy to explain in a later posting.
Frankly, I have about given up on reading serious stuff on OPP because there are so many vitriolic comments so that no one really convinces anyone else of anything. No one changes their position and most of the arguments are negative and filled with name-calling, instead of actually basing an argument on it merits sp as to convince someone to rethink their position. Most of this is all and exercise in futility.
