The fourfold witness

The scriptural background for this lesson is found in John 5:31 - 46. Jesus is the son of God. He gave four witnesses to that fact. The first one is John the Baptist. Jesus does not receive testimony from man. These praise and testimony services we do in church are really one-upmanship and are a waste of time. If you don’t know God for yourself you don’t know Him. In Malachi 4:5, God says He will send Elijah before Jesus. John came in the spirit of Elijah. Six months before Jesus went public, John told everyone He was coming and to prepare themselves. In an aside note, all of this praise and worship without reading the bible to find out God’s will, prophecy, and how He interacts with people accomplishes nothing. The second witness involves your own conscious. Jesus did things no other man could do or has done since. You need eyes that see, ears that hear, and a mind that understands to know that Jesus has to be real. Our understanding of time is based on His life. The third witness is God Himself. Six times in the new testament God calls Jesus His son. The scriptures are in Matthew 3:17 and 17:5, Mark 1:11 and 9:7, and Luke 3:22 and 9:35. In John 12:28 Jesus calls God father and God answers audibly. The details of Christ’s life is predicted throughout Psalms and the prophets. From the city of His birth in Micah 5:2, to His death in the 53rd chapter of Isaiah and the 22nd Psalm. Finally there is Moses, Moses wrote of Jesus in Deuteronomy 18:15, 18 & 19.
