Her name was Arlene Obringer, and I was 7 years old, and we were in the same 1st grade class of many at 'Saint Anthony's Catholic School' in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was blond and taller than me, since I was the smallest boy in class, but even though I was the smallest, I was the toughest boy in the lower grade classes. During recess-play-time, where the entire elementary school went out all together at the same time to a parking lot next to the school for playtime exercise, where we were watched-over by a few Nuns in habits, and where Arlene and I used to kiss under one of the oak trees on the small sand lot next to the parking lot. During that recess-play-time I used to have to defend everyone in our 1st grade class against all comers who were bullies, 1st graders, 2nd graders, a few 3rd graders, and one time a 4th grader, and never lost a fight. Her best friend Sylvia, a little brunette my size, who came from a poor family as I did, and lived in the same federal government housing complex as I did, off of West Broward Blvd, but on the opposite side of the complex, had a crush on me and broke us up by telling Arlene that I was cheating on her and kissing other girls, which was a lie because I was always faithful to Arlene, the prettiest girl in our class, and all the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes too, and Arlene's family was very rich and lived in a high class neighborhood on a canal in Fort Lauderdale.
recall my first unrealistic crushes were Shirley Temple and Loretta Young. My first real crush was the prettiest little girl I've ever seen named Beverly B. in the first grade. I knew her through JR High and she was always a hubba-hubba knockout. Blond hair and blue eyes and she was always smiling. Heard she later got into booze and drugs and I lost track of her.
Iwas 5 and this boy was 7... Our families met every summer at this hotel in Odessa,Ukraine for next 4 yrs.He later moved to America with his family waaay before i did. I wonder whatever happen to him?
I was 5 or 6 and the girl was about the same. Her name was Linda Finan and she was an "outside" girl. I should explain; I was raised in orphanages and the one I was in at the time had a tall cyclone fence around it, and around me. Linda lived in a house with her family so she wasn't inside the fence. Hence, she was an "outside" girl. We used to "Eskimo" kiss (remember that?) through the fence. The openings were small but so were our faces, so we managed.
I was 13 and she was 16. She lived in Hicksville L.I. I lived about a mile from her. Her name was Diane Hasset. I wonder what happened to her.
1st. grade, 6 years old, she was the prettiest girl in the whole school. Lost touch after graduation.
Hi Randy,I Went to saint anthonys too ! do you remember a girl named MARDO PHEASANT???????? She was my girlfriend...
age 6 in the 1st grade
her name was Miss Stockton
my teacher
I still love her
What grades were you in and what years did you attend, and do you remember the recess play times on the paved parking lot on the northwest side of the school, and the small lot with oak tress that dropped small acorns on the southside of the parking lot? Where in Fort Lauderadale did you live? Do you know of and where the federal government housing project is on the southside of West Broward Blvd, across from a small Dairy Queen? The complex had a small city park on it's northeast corner, and on the same side of Broward Blvd a few blocks to the east was an 'Army/Navy Store' and a 'Goody's Shoe Store' where my mother used to shop for clothes at the 'Army/Navy Store', and shoes at the 'Goody's Shoe Store', for me and my other 4 siblings. Did you ever act in a Christmas play in the gym/auditorium on the eastside of the Catholic Church? I was there in 1954-55.
