Without looking it up, can anyone tell me where the birthplace of Mardi Gras was and what year it began?

Why, of course! It was formed in the year 1201 by Armenian peasants, who loved to dress up and parade through the town.

Oh, I forgot! It was the Persians in 1189! They decorated Babylon with palm fronds and ate dates all day.

Did you realize that Mr. Mardi and Mrs. Gras got married in 1703, and their wedding ceremony became the Mardi Gras celebration each year?
