Assasination.

Why is it that a member of Congress who survived an assasination attempt gets to be on 60min when 1000's of American servicemen face this everyday??? The news and the media are so interested in their ratings, that they seem to forget about these Americans that put their life on the line every day! Enough said.

It doesn't seem very fair. But I did hear Scalise speak in front of the Senate. At least he thanked God and his family for helping him get thru it. So...I will give him that. : )

Scalise was unarmed, in a friendly area and ambushed.

"A bit slanted"? I guess the Leaning Tower of Piza is a bit slanted.

"A bit slanted" in the sense that any celebrity's injury or death is prioritized in the news over an everyday Joe's same in military service.

Me thinks the gentleman doth protesteth too much! Service members willingly put their lives on the line, voluntarily; they were not drafted like during Vietnam. They are paid for their service (although not enough, in my opinion), to deter war (no one wants war, especially those in the military). Full disclosure; they know what they are getting themselves into. The same is true of all first responder's, including the police. Rep Scalise has made it a point to publicly thank the Capitol Police detail on duty that day, and had it not been for them there would have been a bloodbath. He did this again when he spoke before Congress and appeared on 60 Minutes. The police were the real heroes that day and Rep Scalise has said this repeatedly.

So what is your real problem with this? I don't think the media has forgotten about the armed services and what they go through every day. But it is typical of the media to report on the sensational. The media gives people what they want. Otherwise people wouldn't watch or read news. So, I suppose we are all to blame.
