Happy Labor Day....

To all,

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and be safe!

Now about Labor Day... it has a unique beginning and most Democrats will take credit for its formation and thereby you should thank them.

Through the years our nation's assigned notion of Labor Day has grown, from the simple national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country to what it is today, a day off work so on Sunday night we can stay up as long as we want, or can in my case. The first governmental recognition came through municipal ordinances passed during 1885 and 1886. From these, a movement developed to secure state legislation. The first state bill was introduced into the New York legislature, but the first to become law was passed by Oregon on February 21, 1887. During the year four more states — Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York — created the Labor Day holiday by legislative enactment. By the end of the decade Connecticut, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania had followed suit. By 1894, 23 other states had adopted the holiday in honor of workers, and on June 28 of that year, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday in the District of Columbia and the territories.

Maybe in the not so distant future, Labor Day will mean the one day we give our robots rest and do some work within that 24 hours.

Now that is a novel idea.... just yesterday in another thread someone asked it I were a robot. Tomorrow will be a busy day for me, I have to go to a few homes for welfare checks and then I have several animals that I promised to pick up (I do rescue work), and then I am on the schedule to cook at our homeless shelter.... No rest for robots....
