Legendary comic Jerry Lewis, who has been known the last couple of decades for his role in raising nearly two and a half billion dollars for Muscular Dystrophy research, has died at the age of 91 in his home. So long, funny man.

I never did think he was funny. Slap-Stick is not funny to me. He seemed to be popular in France for some reason.

The Beverly Hills police made an exception for Lewis's home, allowing cars to park of the street because of the numbers of people he has most every day working with him on fundraising and research for a cure for MD.

I also never found him funny, at least after the breakup with Dean Martin. Together they were fabulous but, on his own, I couldn't even giggle. I certainly do appreciate his annual telethons for MD when he appeared in his own persona.

Funny or not, he DID raise nearly two and one half BILLION dollars for medical research. That deserves some recognition.

I didn't find him funny either, but his ability to raise that kind of money for a great cause made him, in my book, a very special person.

And he did it the "Old Fashioned Way" by eliciting contributions from voluntary donors based on the merit of his request/argument.

Jerry Lewis was a man that gave of himself. I don't give a flying-shit about his politics. I like him.
