Do you think that it is possible that Harvey is a judgment and the beginning of more? This storm is beyond the unusual!
Hi TexaCan,
I've been offline for a few days.
Do I believe our country is ripe for judgment? Absolutely.
God, in His absolute mercy and forbearance has stayed His hand fifty plus years, since the USSC decision throwing Him from our public schools in 1962, and 1963, and the 1973 decision that murdering our own infants is a right to be found in our U.S. Constitution, under "Privacy."
The decision that legally uniting two sexual perverts is "Holy Matrimony," and is constitutional was just icing on the cake.
The 1st "Woe" in the chapter (at the beginning) of Isaiah 18 is something I've been watching. It seems to be aimed at us, the US receiving a nuclear strike, after which it foretells a war in the Middle East involving Israel... who defeats their enemies, assuming control of the rest of Israel proper... and finally, Americans bringing gifts to the Temple Mount, to rebuild the Temple.
The identification of the nation in this chapter, verses 1, 2, and 7, contains a number of detailed specifications that no modern nation fits the description of as closely as does the United States, and no ancient nation ever fulfilled the prophecy.
Whether 1/3rd of our oil supply being knocked offline in the Houston area is a leadup to this, I don't know...
My first thought on the 25th, after hearing the prediction that the Houston area could receive fifty inches of rain, was that based on their recent political history, If God was applying a judgment in Texas, Houston would seem to be a natural target.
The citizens of Houston had elected an avowed Lesbian mayor, Annise Parker, several years ago, who had issued Subpoenas to five Houston Christian pastors demanding all sermons and correspondence dealing with homosexuality, gender identity and the city's Equal Rights ordinance in an attempt to censure the Christian churches in Houston in 2014, requiring them to submit their sermons to her office for approval, before delivering them to their congregations.
The Houston City Council had supported her in this action.
Is the stench in God's nostrils, resulting from that action, sufficient cause to warrant fifty inches of rain? I don't know.
Actually, my very next thought was of the double rainbows that have appeared several times at the White House, since President Trump's inauguration. The last one was on August 3rd.
Their appearance at our capitol, over the White House, encompasses a message to the entire nation.
The rainbow is always a reminder of God's promise that He would never again inundate the entire earth in judgement of sin, as He had at the time of Noah (Genesis 9:12-17), - but smaller areas have remained "fair game," when and if warranted, and desired by a sovereign God.
It is NOT Global Warming or Climate Change that controls the weather on earth; it is the God of Creation.
...and then there is the eclipse of the Sun, which was a warning to our nation. It crossed the middle of the land from the Northwest to the Southeast, but avoided California and New York, leaving me wondering if these areas have transgressed beyond deserving a warning.
There are two more Hurricanes approaching, which I have heard described as a "One - Two" punch. One could follow the other back into the gulf to Texas and Louisiana, or they could divide with one hitting Miami, and the other going up the East Coast... or they could both go out to sea.
Only God knows now, and we will know in due time.
At the present time, a wildfire burning through mountains just north of downtown Los Angeles is the largest ever within city limits, the city's mayor, Eric Garcetti, said. Los Angeles County is fighting it's biggest wild fire in recorded history.
We should all be praying on our knees in sackcloth and ashes, but they seem to be in short supply.
Psalm 91:7-8: "A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you.
You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked.…"
