It was just a matter of time. They've been systematically destroying history and the people were bound to rise up eventually. Only one little blurb as to what this was about.
Leave Robert E. Lee and Traveler alone. They mean something to some of us, should mean something to all of us. It's our HISTORY, and should continue to stand in Richmond. The statues are doing no harm. Just stand as a reminder of different things to different people. We cannot continue to give in to the demands of blacks and Marxists.
They're lying to us again. The march wasn't about raising hell and pandemonium.

I guarantee on both sides at least half couldn't have told you who Robert E Lee was or who he fought for.

It has been stated many, many times, "those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it". For some reason people today who do not agree with history wish to erase it. The earliest example I saw was when my son was five years old, I took him to see the Disney movie, "Song of the South", which was re-released by Disney in 1980. It was the first movie that combined humans with animated characters. The film takes place in the reconstruction era after the Civil War, in Georgia. It is a period piece. It depicted life the way it was right after the war. I thought it was educational for my son to see how it was so he could appreciate the differences of how it was in the 1980s. We enjoyed it and I paid $125.00 later for a Japanese version on Laser Disk. It's the most expensive film I own. Anyway, some people complained the film was racist. I see it as a period peace that shows how far this country has progressed with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1968. You can't appreciate the strides made in this country in race relations unless you see how it was, and compare that against how it is. Anyway, because of the complaints, Disney has put the film in their vault never to be seen again. To understand history you have to be able to compare the past to the present. By eliminating all references to the past, like is now happening in the south, we are removing an important connection to the past, painful as that may be to some. I'm totally against the cleansing of Civil War history from the south. Look at it and understand it. Don't destroy and hide it. It's like the people who need "safe places" Things happen continually, deal with those things like adults. Don't hide from them.

How sad! And even more reason not to destroy history but to preserve it and learn from it.

Attempting to erase history is on the list of the communist agenda.
Wow Were getting hit from inside and out.

Unfortunately revisionist history is also taught in our schools. Sometimes the revisions are to "disappear it" as is happening with removing all of the "offensive" Confederate icons. And sometimes it's blatant lies. I can remember in junior year of high school (1967) our US history teacher giving a lecture about how Abraham Lincoln was a bad president with no platform or ideas and so he started the civil war. She then went on to basically assasinate his character and intelligence. At first I was listening raptly, as was the rest of the class, because all teenagers like gossip and she was the TEACHER, she must know. But halfway through it just sounded wrong, so I raised my hand and asked her how she knew these things and for references to get historical perspective on what she was saying. Her response was to send me to the Dean. Another example was in 2001, during the Bush/Gore campaign, I was working with some Princeton interns, one of whom was a political science major. I commented that it was Reagan who instituted the earned income credit to help the working poor. This intern condescendingly told me I was sadly mistaken and it was Clinton who did that. Having been there of course I explained to her that no, it was Reagan. She then looked it up and was actually furious to find that it was indeed Reagan and she had been taught something false at Princeton. My point with this long soliloquy is to agree with the point that burying, destroying and/or revising history dooms us to repeat it.

You are absolutely right G man how do you compare today from yesterday if you have nothing to compare it to. These people are just a bunch of retarded crybabies. Their brains aren't big enough to handle truth. And it is the Liberals who can't figure it out that slavery was run by the Democrats. That's right it wasn't Donald Trump it wasn't George Bush. It was your typical run-of-the-mill Democrats. Maybe it's the Liberals that have to lie about their own history and rewrite it whay Hillary tried to do.

Why did Elizabeth Warren lie about her history. To lie and claim minority status. And kept a true minority from a place of learning and education. I wonder what poor kid was kept out of school so she could go at a reduced rate. Her nickname lieawatha will follow her to the Grave and Beyond where she will be given a chance to lie again in the face of the Holy Father. I know maybe she'll lie and blame it on Robert E Lee or George Bush or maybe Donald Trump. It's the Democrats who have been lying to the poor black people for a long time. How are they doing today? Study history my poor friends and learn from it and embarrass these people who claim to be representing you. This is Texas truth defending truth in all its forms. Oh by the way Elizabeth Warren is currently a multi-millionaire. And the people she represents are still poor.

I'm confused, General Lee no longer commanded the Army of Virginia? I've never seen the statue, but was still under the impression that Lee was involved in the civil war.

I don't give a hoot about statues either way, they don't really mean anything unless one is an idol worshiper, but if that's your thing, so be it. Flags, statues, and other stuff like that are symbols. For some, the symbols are positive, or others....not so much, but they're still just symbols. It is the underlying beliefs that may be argued about, but arguing about the symbols is counterproductive.

Why don't we all rally around the old Stars and Stripes, and leave all those other silly symbols alone?

Ipn, it's not the idea of the Left trying to start tearing down statues of Civil War military personnel, but trying so hard to sterilize our past history with all this PC crap. I just don't understand how we as a people can standby and let public schools and higher learning get away with this !!

Next on their list is to rewrite all the American history books and remove the truth. Will we just watch?
