Attorney General Jeff Sessions knows that the United States is the world’s leading incarcerator. We imprison more people than any other nation in the world. But apparently he likes that distinction because he just doubled down on it, guaranteeing that more people will be locked up for drug offenses in America’s federal prisons.

Can Sessions do something about the opioid problem? Everyday I see one to three obituaries of people between 25 and 35 of age dieing suddenly. I think it's recognized as a national problem, but it doesn't seem to me to be taken seriously enough. I know a family with a mother of three young children who died of any overdose. It seems to be an epidemic, but a silent one. Everyone conversed about Ebola in contrast.
