I'm sure that even the righties on OPP will be interested in this.

Dear friends,

A band of far-right extremists have launched a ship to physically stop rescuers from saving desperate refugees in the Mediterranean.

It's a truly disgusting new low. But on Saturday, they plan to dock in Catania, Italy to refuel and stock supplies. We can stop these people hunters -- by shutting down the port!

The mayor of Catania is with us but says he needs public support to get the port authority on board. Sign now, and we'll deliver our message directly to port officials -- and shut down this unhuman mission:

Catania: say NO to the people hunters

The small group of anti-Islam, anti-migrant "activists" plan to cruise the Mediterranean, "report" on humanitarian NGOs preventing migrants from drowning, and drive boats back to the African coast.

There's still a long way to go to have a safe, sane policy that works for Europe and also gives desperate migrants a chance at a better life. But this dangerous pirate "stunt" isn't it -- it's a cynical attempt to bypass legal measures and win celebrity for an openly racist cause.

That's why it's critical to shut them down -- so their hateful agenda gets no traction. And by closing the port of Catania we can do it. It's just one small town, but it's the centre of the humanitarian response to refugees. If we prevent these sickos from docking, they'll spend days trying to find other suitable ports -- and we can meet them at one port after another to stop them.

Add your name -- and let's make sure there's no safe harbour for these people hunters:

Catania: say NO to the people hunters
We've always shown up to calls for urgent action for refugees -- donated millions to campaign, aid, rescue, and legal assistance, and Avaazers across Europe have even volunteered to host refugees in their communities. Now we can show up again and make sure we put a stop to this height of human cruelty.

With hope and determination,
Danny, Mia, Patri, Luca, Alice, Fatima and the whole Avaaz team

This is a tough one. I can see both sides; those needing a safe place to live and those who want them to stay in their own country.
When was the last time you were in Europe? Rome, the city of fountains and lazy walks through the streets.... Stopping to fetch water that has run pure and sweet for a few thousands of years are now dry. All the fountains are being turned off. The Vatican gardens are dying,
because no water is being supplied to them. The PR is this is an effort to be more environmentally responsible and preserve water this may be part of the truth, but the driving force is the refugees... they are using the canals and fountains to wash clothes and as public toilets. Athens Greece, one of the most beautiful places that I have ever lived... nights were warm and after dinner it was an escape from the heat of the day to walk along the beaches. The smells of bread, sun tan lotion, and the ever pleasant of Chaírete (meaning hello) was passed from person to person. This is now replaced with tents and the smell of urine. Beaches have been turned into drug dealers havens. Greeks lock their door and although always vigilant with their children, they now protect them with pistols. Germany.... Paris... all gone. It is sad to see what has happened. So I can understand the anger and frustration the Sicilians must be experiencing. They used to be a main tourist stop, not now. Their business are closing because the cities are not safe, tourist are staying away so their livelihoods are vanishing. These boat people are not doctors, engineers, or for the most part escaping with their families... they are young healthy men who should be taking back their own countries.

I am glad you posted these articles because I will be making a large donation to Defend Europe to help in the efforts of Generation Identity.

All of these links appear to be bad.

While those invaders may be in need of assistance it should be provided to them in their own country. What they are doing is nothing less than an invasion of Europe and given the never-ending stream of these invaders, Europe is going to cease to exist in a relatively short time.

It doesn't surprise me that the Mayor of a Sicilian town would try to increase the number of invaders reaching Italy. My father, quite often told me that Sicilians weren't Italians, they were Saracens.

Well, you can't really see much when you go on packaged tour. You have an guide, a set route the bus travels, and scheduled stops so you can spend your money in tourist traps. These tours are carefully planned out and orchestrated to bypass the "uglier" parts of towns or countries. Sure, the US has space.... if you do not think we need for farms or forest, then I suppose we could pack in a few million more. Then there is the desert, certainly more can be fit there... but, it is not just the matter of having a meter or so to put another person.... there are other obligations that go along with accepting more people. I guess the question is.... how many of these people do you currently have living in your home? How many are you willing to personally sponsor... provide for all their needs for the rest of their lives and any children then may have, and their children, and so forth? Are you willing to obligate your children and grandchildren to the well being of these folks? And then there is.... how much of your freedom are you willing to give up? Will you accept their laws they bring with them?

I rented a car in Venice and drove through Italy, dropped my care in bari then took ferry to greece
Rented car their and drove to athens hired no guide the entire trip
In the evening I walked the streets sometimes stopping to have a beer with locals.
I'm not saying what you wrote was untrue I'm saying I didn't see it,except for a bunch of beggers in corinth, and in athens by the colosseum
