This is no joke! I used to live in the Pan-Handle (good old boy country) We had BBQ 'Gater Tail'. Sort of tastes like chicken We wanted to BBQ N.Y. 'Yanks'but the taste was tough and nasty.

I've had rattle snake, I thought it was pretty good. Never had gator but it CAN'T be that bad, especially wrapped in bacon.
But then again, it may all depend on where the gator came from. Kinda like fish...clean water has nice tasting fish, muddy water fish taste like mud.

I was born in Idaho they go rattle snake hunting and have a barbcue I wouldnt have touched that almost couldnt read about it. All I'll say is more power to ya but it wont be me I am a die hard chicken meat and taters thank you nothing strange!!!!
