I think you (and the article) are jumping the gun here. The only savings I see are 100B. Not anything to sneeze at, to be sure, but a far cry from 1T. dollars.
If you look at the chart, it's almost a rounding error.

Another reason it's too soon to crow:

http://www.statista.com/statistics/216998/forecast-of-the-federal-debt-of-the-united-states/

While the month to month may change a little, the overall trend isn't favorable either for the debt forecast.

And I would point out that the comparison to Obama's first year in office is mixing apples with oranges. Obama inherited the 'great recession' while Trump did not and inherited an economy on the mend.

If you call a stagnant economy with the lowest growth rate of any recovery in this country's history on the mend, then Yeah. Let's not forget the doctored unemployment figures, either. Black unemployment doubled under the Obama Administration.

I was under the impression the thread was about saving a trillion dollars. As for 'doctored' unemployment figures, I'll wait till the President and his supporters start crowing about those numbers then talk about labor force participation rate, since those were the numbers used to measure Obama.

Do you know what it was that Trump did to save a trillion dollars? The article didn't say or else I missed it.

Read the charts. I redid the link I provided, since it may not have worked. These are from the US Treasury. the premise is that Trump has decreased spending in his first 6 months in office, while Obama increased spending by nearly one trillion.
