Today was very busy indeed. Besides the Declaration of Independence, actually voted on today, rather than on the fourth, all sorts of stuff happened.......

In 1924, President Coolidge signed the Indian Citizenship Act, finally making all Indians full citizens.
In 1940, Babe Ruth announces his retirement, and in 1941, Lou Gehrig dies.
In 1992, the one millionth Corvette rolls off the assembly line.
