The $ 50 lesson

Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog.

During our friendly conversation, I asked their 12 year old daughter what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President someday.

Both of her parents - liberal Democrats - were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."

Her parents beamed with pride!

"Wow...what a worthy goal!" I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!" I told her.

"What do you mean?" she replied.

So I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her parents aren't speaking to me.

How smart? Had she learned the left leaning method of making a living from her parents? She sure came back like a true left leaner so I guess she had learned a lot from her parents.

Isn't being a Republican great when you can pass your wisdom on to the future voters? HA! HA!

What is all your problem regarding kids? You all have forgotten how to get down to a kids level of thought process, and you put your years and experience as adults in their mouths.
Your probably the ones who would tell a young kid to "grow-up". Grow up meaning warp speeding from only the maturity, experience, and learning they have as a kid to 'your adult way of thought?'
How smart are you guys?? That like telling an infant to get up and walk. Same principle.

I'm wondering why, when repubs had the reins, they didn't deal with that issue then, instead of passing it on. I know it's easier to rewrite history than it is to make it, but, come on! You can't seriously blame dems for a problem repubs refused to solve - when they had the chance. You arm chair fictional history boobs really gotta pair!

I could answer with a tongue in cheek cheap shot, like we were too busy dealing with terrorists that Clinton refused to deal with when he had the chance.

But I hate finger pointing its self defeating. All sides (with maybe the tea party as the exception) share pretty equally in our current state.

Here is the crutch of the problem if we agree the economy is the greatest opportunity we face the libs say it's big business greed that is at fault and the repubs say it's intrusive gov and taxes.

Or if we say it's poverty the dems say it's big business greed and racism and repubs say it's the fed gov enabling and not holding people to personal responsibility.

Let me ask you a very simple question. If the resolution to both of these problems is job creation what do you think the gov should do to assist businesses grow here in the United States.

Obama knows the answer do you?

Why in hell do the actions, or inactions, of previous people make something done today right? I just don't understand how you reason like all liberals when you don't appear to be one.

The little girl said that just as her liberal parents had taught her to do. What I am saying is that the people of the liberal bent think that homeless people should work so they can sit on their butts and watch. Those welfare checks will come in while others do the work.

Oldroy-You are wise enough to realize that trying to reason with ANYONE from the "Left" is a lost cause. Continue doing what you have been, and when you see the dems lying along the side of the ditch in your way, just give them a little kick to finish their journey to the bottom! Keep it up, you're a crusader for the "right" side.
